• Alternative Character Interpretation: The story invites several of these due to the simple fact that none of the characters have straightforward motivations. Many of them are explored In-Universe, but none are outright answered.
  • Does Hiroshi truly love Moe and Reika or are his feelings for them a cover for yearning to receive any kind of care or affection from a woman in his life? Is he trying to please both of them because of his own failed attempts at pleasing his mother?
  • Is Moe using Hiroshi as a crutch due to her inability to let him go for over 12 years instead of being able to move on? Did she end up resorting to the same underhanded tactics against Reika that her own bullies used against her to help Sayori win Tatsuhiko?
  • Is Reika using Hiroshi as a means of escape from her own horrible home life or did she believe she had truly found a true connection with him versus all of the other guys who she saw as shallow?
  • Was Tatsuhiko truly trying to protect Moe by renting out the entire pool for the group of friends or, as Hiroshi accused, just trying to impress her by flaunting his wealth when he normally never did such a thing with other girls. Similarly, did he invite the junior who was also in Reika's class who replaced Hiroshi on the basketball team as a means of assuring Hiroshi that the team was still able to carry on without him or as a means of piling guilt onto Hiroshi for leaving the team and making him see what he's missed out on as a result.
• The Woobie: All three of the main characters are revealed to be in some pretty rotten circumstances that lead them to making terrible decisions throughout the story. While all three of them could have done things differently, it's also hard to put the blame entirely on them.
