• Memetic Mutation: In response to Elmer's "How am I evew going to catch that scwewy duck?", Daffy says "Precisely what I was thinking, my little Nimrod!" At the time, "nimrod" was a common nickname for a hunter, inspired by the biblical "mighty hunter before the Lord." Kids seeing the cartoon on television in later years may not have understood the reference and just assumed "nimrod" was a novel insult, and adopted it, to the extent that most Americans are more familiar with Nimrod as an insult than from the Bible. However, this has often been misreported as Bugs Bunny calling Elmer a nimrod; Bugs later used it himself to describe Yosemite Sam in 1951's "Rabbit Every Monday", but never against Elmer. And there are reports that "nimrod" was used as an insult before this cartoon, but it's probably fair to credit it as a popularizer.
