• Complete Monster: Both Richter and his associates Axel, Brody, and Alex Falconer are sadistic and brute psychopathic drug dealers and drug users, who have a whole racket of drugging and then feeding on innocent women before selling them off to other vampires all over the state of California.
• Esoteric Happy Ending: The Prospector and Slim have this ending. They think they have won and saved the city and still remain in good standing with what's left of the ruling council. But the city is crawling with hunters and federal agents who are convinced that Verona Beach is rife with domestic terrorism and both are completely oblivious to how dire the situation in Verona actually is.
