• Once Original, Now Common: Outside of Eddie Van Halen, no one influenced rock and metal guitarists in the 80s more than Michael Schenker. So many players copied his sense of melody, his vibrato, his exclusive use of alternative picking on faster runs, and his sheer emotion, but between the sheer amount of people who lifted all of his most obvious stylistic hallmarks, and his own chaotic and self-destructive nature limiting his career and general visibility, younger listeners may struggle to understand why he is as revered as he is.
