• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Several of the songs end up as this, especially in The Great Big Beast; they're pretty surreal, come out of left field and have very little, if any, bearing on the plot. The English dub actually takes this one step further with the song "Come and See, There is a Cow in our Tunnel," which in the original Norwegian version was explained by Tootson and Ludiwood just having eaten some 40 year old licorice which made them trip out and hallucinate, but the English dub cuts the part about the licorice and just has the song with its accompanying trippy visuals happen for no reason.
• It Was His Sled: Everyone who's heard any number of Dolmen and Lorentzen's songs knows that the Great Big Beast is friendly and that Tootson and Ludiwood have no reason to be afraid of it. The movie seems well aware of this, and doesn't even try to present the Beast as scary, even when Tootson and Ludiwood worry that it's going to eat them.
