YMMV / Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
    • As depressing and tragic the whole fight against Liz is, her boss battle music, Mutation, goes hard with its hardcore vibe.
    • "Turnip Boy Go!" is a rousing electronic rock anthem that cheers you on during the True Final Boss.
  • Difficulty Spike: Initially the game is a fairly easygoing experience, most enemies don't specifically target you, dungeons are riddled with destructible objects that yield health, and bosses can be hit at any time with rather easy attacks to contend with. However as early as the Farmhouse, and especially once you go into the Forgotten Woods and fight the fully mutated Stag you've been encountering, you're suddenly given less forgiving challenges, with enemies that target, latch on, fire at, and swarm you, and more active hazards and puzzles.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: One criticism that even favorable reviews mention is that the game is extremely short. It's not hard to reach the True Final Boss in less than three hours of playtime.
  • That One Boss: Liz, the penultimate boss, is considered by most to be the toughest boss in the game, and is several times harder to defeat than the actual final boss. Her mutant arm can grab onto you from anywhere in the room, slowing you down and pulling you steadily towards her while her other arm tries to smash you to death. The only way to damage her is to set yourself on fire so she lets go, then quickly swap items to your sword so you can attack her for the couple seconds of grace you get before she puts herself out while also dodging the puddles of toxic waste she'll spawn around the room at random and metal pipe that she occasionally swings at you when you get too close.
