** AmusingInjuries are not as amusing as they seem.
** Despite all of the weird shit that happens in this series, there is a strong message about the need for parental figures in a child's life.
** The CycleOfRevenge is also a discussed topic, especially in Nakia's story.
** Cheating is ''never'' ok. Even if you do it to one of the bad guys, it's still bad.

* MagnificentBastard:
** Tabitha managed to manipulate her team into cannibalizing itself pre-merge all the while playing the role of the leader, and made sure to eliminate anyone who learned of her true nature like Andy and Hector. Her post-merge strategy was to keep Kasimar and Nakia immune via exploiting Chris' loopholes, forcing everyone to turn on each other, [[XanatosGambit and no matter who went home, it put herself, Nakia and Kasimar one step closer in the game.]] Later on, she drops Nakia and loses Kasimar, but it fails to deter her as she plays on Jimmy's emotions to get him to vote himself off, and gets rid of Lavender. The only reason she ended up losing was because of her EngineeredPublicConfession via Chris.
** Kim is what you get when you mix Kasimar's sadism with Tabitha's intelligence. Rather than wait for everyone to vote each other off, she takes the initiative and discreetly eliminates several contestants, like Max and Tyson. She also uses sex to convince Kasimar to find the immunity idol. Her main plan was to manipulate Eddie into dating her, then tell him the truth right at the finale to demoralize him. Her plan was derailed by Yannis performing an EngineeredPublicConfession and Lankston tricking her into giving up her idol.

* CrazyAwesome: Barney, Uzuri.

* BaseBreaker: [[NewAgeRetroHippie Vayvay]], [[ManipulativeBastard Kim]] and [[CheerfulChild Jimmy]].
** As the fanbase expanded, former hate sinks like Kasimar, Nakia, and Quarla started gaining fans, while characters who were once universally beloved like Gary, Lavender, and Eddie started gaining flak.
** Uzuri's flirty persona in Letter Starz is either the funniest thing ever or the most obnoxious thing ever depending on whom you ask.

** Of the newcomers, [[{{Badass}} Rheneas]] and [[TheCutie Winnie]] seem to be the most loved.

* EliminationHoudini: It's likely that when every new elimination chapter is posted you'll be wishfully thinking this is '''FINALLY''' the episode where Kasimar gets voted off ... instead it's somebody else (possible a fan favorite) and you're left thinking, '[[WhyWontYouDie why won't this hellion just '''lose''' already?]]'

** LesYay: Lavender and Tabitha, the author even planned for Lavender to have a crush on her in some early drafts. Vayvay and Winnie, but that's more joking than teasing.

* VillainSue: Kim ultimately subverts it. While the others took a long time to figure her out, a few of her more long-term plans (particularly those involving Eddie and Sasha) were shot to hell.
** Tabitha says she's proud to be a Villain Sue in Letter Starz.

* BadassDecay: Quarla fears this is happening to her after [[spoiler: failing to scare Jimmy into submission.]]
