YMMV / Tormented (2009)

• Ambiguously Bi: Tasha has complicated feelings for Justine and appears to be seducing her at some points.
• Broken Base:
  • The movie itself. Some enjoy it for its dark humour and acting whilst some dislike it for being formulaic and predictable.
  • Darren's revenge on his bullies can either be seen as well deserved karma or punishment that is going too far for bullying.
• Jerkass Woobie:
  • Justine. Whilst she was undoubtedly a neglectful head girl, she's not quite as awful as some of her friends are and was oblivious to Darren meaning she didn't know the events of his bullying until later on and is the one that gets the receiving end.
  • Jason. Whilst he does have a tendency to betray his friend, he was probably the most innocent of Darren's victim and much like Darren he was also bullied mercilessly.
  • Darren. Whilst his revenge on his bullies do go too far, his relentless bullying from his peers in the videos of the bullying website can be hard to watch (especially for those who have been bullied). The scene where he gets his inhaler taken leading him to almost dying from an asthma attack is especially hard to watch and may explain why he killed his bullies (not that it's really justified of course, but still...). He could fall into the Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds category.
• Just Here for Godzilla: Bradley is played by Alex Pettyfer and some people watch the movie because of him.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic:
  • Some see Darren as this. Whilst he does have a very sympathetic backstory and being bullied is a very shitty thing to happen to students, his bullying doesn't completely justify the punishments he unleashes to his bullies, especially to Jason and Justine.
  • Whilst there was no excuse as to what Mullet did to his bullies, some viewers also find it very hard to sympathise with the bullies who didn't really care that they bullied Darren to death until it bites them in the ass. One of the most notable ones is Alexis who (despite trying to reform) ends up looking like an unlikeable Jerkass by trying to cover up his bullying as a joke as well as going back to what make Mullet go on a rampage to begin with, making himself look like an idiot. It doesn't help that unlike most of the other bullies, he shows very little remorse for what he's done.
