• Animation Age Ghetto: This show was one of Cartoon Network's major attempts at fighting against this trope. Originally it was intended as a way to cater to hardcore cartoon fans and to educate the younger viewers about animation history at the same time. Even if its scope limited a bit more in its later runs it never shied away from both its purposes.
• Harsher in Hindsight: In the unaired "Worst Cartoons Ever" episode, the narrator points out that John Kricfaluci worked on the "Disco Droopy" segment, before he became famous for Ren & Stimpy and comments that even a bad cartoon like Disco Droopy can lead to something good. With the controversies surrounding John K. this sounds very cringeworthy.
  • The entirety of the episode "The Lost Cartoons", especially the ending quote about the importance of film preservation and looking foward at finding and preserving other cartoons is this considering how many episodes of Toonheads became lost over time. Though this is also Heartwarming in Hindsight, given the efforts of the Lost Media community finding and even rediscovering undocumented episodes of Toonheads.
• Mainstream Obscurity: In Cartoon Network fandom circles, it appeared Toonheads is one whose recognition highly depends on whatever era you grew up with. It's usual to hear Toonheads regarded as a major high point for the network but it seems it is mostly the people who grew up with the Cohen era that recalled most of its points (especially the Don Kennedy edition). When a search began for the Night of Independent Animation segments in communities mostly populated by people who grew up in the Samples era, it became clear their memory of Toonheads is that it was some obscure little program they vaguely remember seeing.
• Overshadowed by Controversy: For the people who only vaguely remember the show it seems they mostly remember it for two specials that it did that featured a lot of lost and controversial Warner Bros. shorts: The Lost Cartoons and The Wartime Cartoons. A third one that focused on The Twelve Missing Hares that got bumped from June Bugs in 2001 was planned but never aired nor was another special that was going to focus on some of the worst cartoons ever made, however both specials were uploaded to Youtube in 2022 with the permission of Jerry Beck
