• Harsher in Hindsight: Pedro’s offscreen suicide by gunshot. Actor Pedro Armendáriz shot himself in 1963 while suffering from terminal cancer.
• Tear Jerker:
  • The passing of the mother of the baby is surprisingly heartbreaking, considering what little screen-time she has. She at least lives long enough to name her baby and entrust his care to someone.
  "Oh, it's getting dark..."
  • Poor young William's death.
  • Pedro's death isn't even onscreen, though once the gunshot in the distance is heard. It's downright heartbreaking.
