• Fridge Horror: Played for Laughs to some extent, but given how Gordon and Henry laughed in "Break Van" when Douglas mentioned hearing about an engine and some tar wagons, one must wonder what their initial reaction to hearing about James being splattered with tar was, and the teasing they must have put him through when next they saw him.
• Special Effect Failure: A hand can be seen pushing the truck behind James when he crashes.
• Unintentionally Sympathetic: James. It probably doesn't help that he has his sad face on when he's covered in tar.
