• Inferred Holocaust: Oliver's new law of "no old doctors" will doubtlessly lead to the collapse of all advanced medical care in the United States, as every competent surgeon and specialist is replaced by a child who either doesn't know what they're doing or doesn't care about following safe procedures. We see this firsthand with Raff, who ends the episode being sliced to bits by an apathetic prepubescent boy who wants to hurry surgery along so he can get back to his gaming.
• Jerkass Woobie: Raff. He may have been an opportunist and a manipulator but he didn't deserve to get shot and falsely accused of trying to assassinate Oliver. And he definitely didn't deserve to get hacked with a knife by a kid doctor.
• Older Than They Think: The premise of a kid becoming President had been done before in Dan Gutman's novel The Kid who Became President.
• Spiritual Successor: To "It's a Good Life". A child gains great power without anyone controlling him, and those who oppose him suffer terrible consequences.
