  • Viola hints that something happened between her mother and her husband. On one hand, her even having a husband suggests that while Pamela expected her to age and die, she was still allowed to have some aspects of a normal life. On the other hand, while we never learn what happened to him, it's implied Pamela murdered Viola's husband with the scarab, suggesting she only allowed her to get married to have a new victim. Or that she killed him after Viola got married behind her back.
  • Kreuger mentions an earlier actress, Constance Taylor, that he interviewed, who played Pamela's part in a silent film, who looks identical to Pamela, and who had disappeared in a cave-in while filming on location in Egypt. While the obvious implication is that Constance and Pamela are one and the same, and that Pamela faked her death, it's possible Constance was one of Pamela's victims whose life she stole. The fact that Kreuger somehow survived his encounter with Constance gives some credence to that theory. It also gives an explanation as to how Pamela even came to America.
