- Ensemble Dark Horse: Rocky Rhodes (played by Burt Reynolds) is the one thing everyone can agree is good about the episode.
- Once Original, Now Common: A lot of the comedy comes off as pretty cliched now.
- Retroactive Recognition: Burt Reynolds played Rocky Rhodes.
- Special Effects Failure: It's obvious that John Williams is wearing a bald cap when playing William Shakespeare.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: You'd think that a Twilight Zone episode about a bad writer who summons William Shakespeare would be about Moomer learning to be a better writer from him, with Moomer teaching Shakespeare about television. However, Moomer just keeps on summoning spirits, never learning from his experiences, and Shakespeare doesn't have a single problem understanding television.
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Moomer is seen by most as being a talentless hack, rather than being sympathetic.
