YMMV / The Twilight Zone (1959) S1E30: "A Stop at Willoughby"

Go To

  • Moral Event Horizon: Gart's wife is avaricious, dismissive, and completely unsympathetic to her husband's feelings. But her worst moment comes when he calls her from the office, clearly in the middle of a nervous breakdown, and she hangs up on him. Damn.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Jason Wingreen played the role of the train conductor who called the hearse from Willoughby & Son. He would later be cast as the original voice of Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back. In that role, he would have a more famous character put in the cargo hold of a vehicle.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Some people would see Gart's declining emotional health as being erratic rather than empathetic.
  • Values Resonance: The emotional abuse Gart's wife put him through being depicted as horrible was surprisingly ahead of its time in 1960.
