- Inferred Holocaust: The fox's wooden cabin is rather suspiciously filled with heaps of down and feathers, presumably from previous visitors who were not as lucky as Jemima. For additional Squick, as soon as she is let into the cabin, Jemima makes her nest in these same discarded feathers.
- Tear Jerker: As foolish as Jemima was over the course of the story, her eggs get senselessly devoured by the two fox-hound puppies that aid Kep the farm collie in chasing away the fox. Somewhat mitigated when she does eventually get to raise a few of her own ducklings later on.
