YMMV / The Simpsons: Virtual Bart

Go To

  • Anti-Climax Boss:
    • Homer and Moe's boss battle at the end of Dino Bart consists on knocking down the ice platforms they're on, and their attacks are ridiculously easy to dodge and they become even easier as the battle progresses.
    • The Executives at the end of Pig Bart go down rather easily.
  • Angst? What Angst?: Bart at the end of Doomsday Bart seems way too unconcerned that his family is dead.
  • Best Level Ever:
    • The Class Picture level is much-loved for allowing you to show off your dexterity and reflexes as well as chucking food at your classmates.note
    • Doomsday Bart is also pretty popular, as it features some decent combat racing gameplay, feels noticeably more polished than most of the other levels — the SNES version re-uses the driving engine from the Super Star Wars games, while the Genesis version uses a Road Rash-style engine that runs surprisingly smoothly for the time — and doesn't outstay its welcome.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The Doomsday Bart level, after the debut of Mr Burns: A Post-Electric Play in 2013. The play shows how, following a nuclear apocalypse that destroys the electrical grid, the plot of a Simpsons episode evolves in the telling over nearly 80 years until it's turned into an epic tale of survival and tragedy where a meltdown at the power plant destroys Springfield and, you guessed it, Bart winds up being the Sole Survivor of the Simpson family.
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: Like The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare before it, it's not seen as a good game by any stretch of the imagination, but is at least considered a cut above most of the other Simpsons-based games of this era. It benefits from good graphics and some creative level designs, but is let down by punishing difficulty and awkward controls.
  • That One Level: Mt. Splashmore is probably the most infamous level from the game, as it's dragged out for far longer than it needs to be, and the erratic movements and Hitbox Dissonance of the other swimmers turn dodging them (and thereby completing the level) into a Luck-Based Mission.
