Shortly before the episode aired, a woman named Awilda Lopez was arrested for child abuse resulting in her adoptive daughter's death which included, among other things, using her head to mop the floor.

This trend started with the "AFL Related Simpsons Quotes" page on Facebook* along with a goofy image of AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan saying "Let's get buzzay" on the replies, although the AFL itself was Screwed By The Virus just two days into Round 1.
