• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Starting in book 3, Damien's grandfather and The Truth. While the Fantastic Racism angle is fair, The Truth seems comprised entirely of career criminals who have no problem with participating in literally every crime the League is guilty of and more, all while claiming they never would do such a thing despite Vilmore having entire classes dedicated to kidnapping and torture. Yet they're portrayed as little more than Well Intentioned Extremists who took it a bit too far rather than a terrorist organization with pretensions of being a rights group. Even Alatair's betrayal of Damien is treated as a personal failing rather than a sign of extremism.
