• Alternative Character Interpretation:
  • Was Anton's wife Paloma willingly a part of Anton's schemes? Was she another victim of his abuse? Lizzie says that she was so drugged up that she didn't even feel it when they stabbed her so maybe Anton was keeping her under his control with drugs. This makes her death a Mercy Killing more than anything.
  • Theiss and Jeffrey are the sons of famous music teachers and are supposedly great music teachers themselves but we never hear them even speak or play music. Could they be just a pair of mutes in respectable-looking suits riding on the coattails of their respective fathers' prestige?
• Awesome Music:
  • The entire soundtrack! Makes sense as it's a film about music.
  • Lizzie and Charlotte's final duet which doubles as a Tear Jerker and the final shot of Anton, which is Black Comedy.
• Complete Monster: Anton, the head of Bachoff Academy, is a seemingly friendly music teacher who hides a dark secret. An abusive Serial Rapist, Anton lures in young women to become great cello players, only to psychologically and emotionally abuse them until they break under it, whereupon he subjects them to rape at his hands and those of his fellow instructors at the academy, the fate that befell the heroines Charlotte and Lizzy. After Lizzy loses her hand, Anton coldly abandons her, focusing on his new protégé Zhang Li, intending to mold and eventually rape her as well. When Charlotte is returned to him, Anton forces her to play for him again, before trying to have her gang-raped to keep as a Sex Slave.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome:
  • When Theiss and Jeffrey start to choke on the poison that Lizzie put in their drinks, along with the revelation that she's been on Charlotte's side all along.
  • When Lizzie and Charlotte walk into Anton's bedroom playing rap, about to give him Hell. Doubles as a Crowning Moment of Funny.
  • Lizzie beating the shit out of Anton with a poker while subjecting him to a brutal "The Reason You Suck" Speech.
• Fridge Horror: Anton says that he educates his students the way he and Theiss and Jeffrey were educated. Does this mean that the three of them were raped by their fathers? How long has this shit been going on for? This would make all three of them Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds but the fact that Lizzie and Charlotte were both raped from a young age too and turned out to be decent people means that it still doesn't excuse the actions of Anton and his compatriots.
• Magnificent Bastard: Charlotte Willmore is a former rape victim of Anton of Bachoff Academy, who, realizing her new lover Lizzie suffers from his brainwashing, tricks her into severing her own hand, thus destroying her cello talent and forcing Lizzie to realize Anton cares nothing for her when he deserts her. Scheming to have Lizzie "capture" her for Anton, they deceive him and poison and kill his allies to corner him. As Anton can only sit crippled and mutilated, Charlotte and Lizzie triumphantly play the cello as one.
