• Moral Event Horizon: Robin crosses this repeatedly.
  • Attacking and massacring the caravan guarded by Sir Richard Lea, one of the pure good guys of the series, just to fill his pockets.
    • And it's All for Nothing, as later on Robin has to abandon the enterprise that led to the massacre in the first place (long story short, the Knights Templar, including Sir Richard, had made a tidy sum selling frankincense to Europe and Robin decided he wanted a slice of the pie) and does so with nary a background glance. Alan, naturally, is furious.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Guy of Gisbourne is Killed Off for Real in the first book, which may be too quick for some, considering his (modern) role as the Sheriff's top enforcer. (Still, the sheriff is demoted to a supporting villain himself in the later books.)
