YMMV / The Mandalorian S3E6 "Chapter 22: Guns for Hire"

  • Genius Bonus: "Nepenthé" comes from Ancient Greek, and means, roughly, "forgetting one's sorrows". Helen (of Troy fame) served it during dinner when Menelaus was regaling Telemachus with stories of his father Odysseus's cleverness during the war, causing them both grief over his absence. In other words, the droids use nepenthe for Drowning My Sorrows.
  • I Knew It!: "The Mines of Mandalore" left some viewers arguing that since Din lost the Darksaber to a cyborg, who lost it to Bo-Katan, that she has ownership of it again. Din confirms this to the other Nite Owls.
  • Narrowed It Down to the Guy I Recognize: There are three major guest stars - Lizzo, Jack Black, and Christopher Lloyd. Lloyd's Commissioner Helgait is behind everything.
  • Questionable Casting: The casting of Lizzo and Jack Black received backlash online by some arguing that they don't exactly fit in with the vibe of a Space Western, even one that had gotten lighter in tone over the course of three seasons.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic:
    • Considering B2 Super Battle Droids destroyed Din's childhood home, killed his parents, and almost shot him, the sight of Din kicking B2s should provide catharsis, but instead viewers complained that the show reversed his arc about learning not to hate droids.
    • Plazir-15's society can come off as this, due to being divided between self-aware droids who mainly perform all the unpaid labor and organics who don't really do any. Although the droids claim to be grateful for the work as a chance to repay organics for creating them, it might carry a reading of justifying their own oppression as the droids admit the only other alternative is being scrapped.
