  • Alternate Character Interpretation: In the introduction, Sayers explains her nontraditional take on the repentant thief crucified next to Jesus. Rather than spontaneously figuring out that Jesus' kingdom was a spiritual one and then saying "Remember me when you come into your kingdom," Sayers has him say the line as an attempt to console Jesus, whose response ("Today you will be with me in paradise") is what reveals the truth.
