• Alternate Character Interpretation: Where to begin...
  • The Marauders: Well-intentioned pranksters who just don't always know where to draw the line, or band of bullies who are just looking for an excuse to cause havoc? Or maybe a bit of both?
  • Severus Snape: An otherwise good guy involved in a bad crowd, or a creep asides from his love for Lily? Or somewhere in between?
  • James Potter: Does he really love Lily yet, or at this point is it mere infatuation?
  • Florence: Is she a bad friend for pursuing Alton despite knowing of Bertha's crush on him, or is she in the right to pursue someone she's interested in?
  • Maria Zabini: Does she honestly love Mulciber, or is it just infatuation? Just how naive is she to his true colors? Is she a kind but clueless girl, trying to be a dutiful daughter, or simply can't let go of the image she's had of him since they were children?
• Ho Yay: Even ignoring the official homosexuality and subtext, this fanfic still has its fair share.
  • James compliments Regulus on his butt and the size of his... package in Chapter 13.
  • Sirius' apology to Remus is rather intense, so much so that he feels like his heart is breaking. Meanwhile, Remus is uncharacteristically brittle and bitter about it.
  • Snape himself speculates that Peter's admiration of James may not be completely platonic...
• Iron Woobie: Leslie and Mary. Despite Mary's past she continues to work hard in all of her classes and earn money to support her family, exhibits remarkable resilience for someone in her situation, and doesn't wallow in self-pity. Meanwhile, Leslie doesn't let anything phase her, despite the kind of household she grew up in and the fact that her best friend and crush just died. Of course, this doesn't prevent her from being depressed, but the fact that she (almost) never breaks down is amazing.
