* AwardSnub: Suffice it to say, fans were not pleased when the highly acclaimed third season recieved only one Emmy nomination.

* MoralEventHorizon: Definitively crossed by Meg in "Ten Thirteen" when [[spoiler: she's informed of a man who wandered onto the compound in Miracle and has him stoned to death. She follows this up by unleashing a plot to have all the people hanging around Miracle break in and trash the town, for no apparent reason other than to punish them because she didn't get what she wanted from visiting.]]
** She may have crossed it earlier in "Off Ramp" when she [[spoiler: rapes and nearly kills Tommy.]]

* TooBleakStoppedCaring: It's a series about people constantly attempting to cope with grief, depression, and existential/spiritual crises, which is not exactly an easy sell for the average audience.

* UncannyValley: Done deliberately to creepily devastating effect. The dolls of the Departed, particularly the ones deposited in [[spoiler:Nora's house, with their wide glass eyes]].

* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: It's a series about people constantly attempting to cope with grief, depression, and existential/spiritual crises, which is not exactly an easy sell for the average audience.

** The many instances of MaleFrontalNudity. What's Lindelof's next TV gig? Adapting ''Series/{{Watchmen}}'', where one of the characters is a ''walking'' nude scene, for [=HBO=].

* This wouldn’t be the last time Creator/CarrieCoon [[Film/AvengersInfinityWar has to deal with a large part of the population suddenly vanishing]].

* LoveItOrHateIt: The show is highly divisive. Depending on who you ask it's either a brutal, yet touching, exploration of grief, or a pretentious show full of gratuitous mysteries and phony symbolism. A large part of it also depends on how you felt about Damon Lindeloff's previous extreme Love It Or Hate It show ''Series/{{Lost}}''. This was further deepened when he stated he has ''no'' interest in explaining the show's supernatural elements and only created it for the characters.

* HilariousInHindsight: The many instances of MaleFrontalNudity. What's Lindelof's next TV gig? Adapting ''Series/{{Watchmen}}'', where one of the characters is a ''walking'' nude scene, for [=HBO=].

* GrowingTheBeard: The second season has drawn better reviews from skeptics and has received equal if not better reception from its admirers.
** And now the third and final season has seen universal acclaim from critics, boasting a ''98'' on Metacritic.

* TheWoobie: Matt Jamison. To count off: parents dead in fire, wife rendered a vegetable, his church was foreclosed on due to lacking payments and then sold to the Guilty Remnant, and to top it off he's implied to get attacked somewhat routinely because of his newsletter highlighting the sins of the departed.
** His sister Nora Durst as well, having lost her husband and both of her children. Their life was hardly perfect, but the level of loss was incredible. The fact that she is able to do something to move forward with her life in contrast with the Guilty Remnant, the majority of whom have surely lost far less, makes her something close to an IronWoobie.
