** On DeviantArt, the number of images tagged "Korra" grew by 75-100 ''every day of the first week of the announcement.'' That's roughly one deviation every '''fifteen to twenty minutes'''. Just to put things in perspective, at the time, there was only one publicly-released image of the girl, and it didn't even show her face.
** DanteBasco mentioned on his blog that he would be voicing a "surprise" character in the new series somehow related to Zuko.

** One of the biggest points of contention right now is over Korra's race and how to describe her. One side of the fandom insists that describing Korra as "tan" and drawing her with light skin, as many fans have done so, indicates that she's white and negates the rarity and importance of having a dark-skinned woman as the main character. The other side claims that race isn't any sort of issue because the characters are fictional, and it's up to individual writers and artists as to how they want to depict Korra's skin. Needless to say, the fandom is ''incredibly'' divided over this.
* ChocolateBaby: Avoiding this trope may be why none of Tenzin and Pema's children even vaguely resemble Katara or her entire wing of the family.
* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: Pretty much anything from the Track Team release, but especially "The Rally."

** Now that we know [[spoiler: Katara is still alive,]] expect to see ''dozens'' of theories about [[spoiler: ways the other Gaang members could still be around, too.]]
* EvilIsCool: Amon. He's voiced by Steve Blum, makes dark threats, and [[http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h417/Powerfullest/AmonBOSS.gif doesn't even bat an eye when a bunch of flames come flying into the room where he and his mooks are located in the trailer]].
* FridgeBrilliance: One of the most prominent arguments against the original Team Avatar all being dead was that Aunt Wu had predicted Katara would live to see her great-grandchildren, and it was possible they hadn't been born yet. [[spoiler: Guess who the only member of the Gaang left alive is?]]
* FridgeHorror: Some of the Equalists probably have [[DarkAndTroubledPast very good reasons]] for hating benders. Burglars, serial killers, and even regular schoolyard bullies are bad enough. Now toss in elemental powers. Imagine how powerless non-badass normals would be against such people.
** Let's take this further, shall we? Look into our own history from an anthropological point of view. The technological advancement of the Avatar world within the span of 70 years is oft likened by many fans to be like that of our own Industrial Revolution. While we're talking about a world where people can bend the elements with their own hands, mass production may not be so difficult. But then look at the first part of the ''Promise'' comic and how, in a Fire Nation colony, the non-benders serve the benders. Now look at the historical recaps of modern day anthropology, where articles state that the Industrial Revolution was built on the backs of slave labour and colonialism. Think about that for a moment.
* HarsherInHindsight: The idea about how ingrained conflict threatened to tear cities apart became this after the Occupy Wall Street movement and other such protests.
** Considering that the whole equalist thing was inspired by the communist revolutions in Russia and China a couple tents getting knocked down in New York probably doesn't make it much harsher.
* HilariousInHindsight: The idea of anti-bending revolutionaries had been used before in a [[TheProblemWithLicensedGames much-maligned tie-in video game for the original series.]]
** When Mako and Bolin were first revealed as characters, fans thought Bolin would be a goofball clown and Mako would be a brooding lady's man. Turns out ''Bolin'' is TheCharmer, not Mako, and the responsible Mako is too busy taking care of his brother and working to keep them off the streets to really focus on anything else.
* LyingCreator: [[spoiler: They said the entire cast of ''The Legend of Aang'' was dead. According to leaked footage, this is not true.]]

* ShipToShipCombat: Militant Zutara shippers are already resuming where the previous series left off. And the show hasn't even ''started'' yet.
* {{Shipping}}: This fandom's reputation for rabid shipping has in no way been discontinued with regards to the new show.
** When information on the series was just coming out and Korra and Tenzin were the only known characters, fans were very quick to [[MentorShip pair them together,]] in spite of knowing nothing about the characters and the question of whether it would count as ParentalIncest due to {{Reincarnation}}. Once it was revealed that Tenzin was a middle-aged husband and father of three, the ship quietly died.
** Mako/Korra is favoured by those who originally wanted Zutara, and Bolin/Korra is preferred by Taang shippers.
** Also, for some [[CrackPairing odd]] reason, [[LesYay Korra and Yue]] is popular too.
*** That ship grew out of speculation over Korra's animal guide. As the three other bending forms were all created by animals and the original waterbender was the moon, several people joked that Korra would be riding the moon. You can see how it evolved from there.

** When Andrea Romano announced that ''every member of the Gaang was dead'', fans everywhere went to pieces, [[spoiler: even if it wasn't true.]] It really hit home just how close many people had gotten to these characters.
*** [[spoiler: Keep in mind we don't necessarily know that it's not true; as Katara is quite old and the scene she appears in takes place a bit before the story proper begins. It's possible she will pass away before it begins]].
* UglyCute: Meelo. A direct quote from SDCC: "Strangely though, the more ugly he was the cuter he became."
** In fact, Meelo was originally going to be a good-looking cute kid, but the team fell in love with Ryu Ki-Hyun's uglier designs.

* ShipSinking: As if there hadn't been enough attempted Zutara sinkings in the original series, WordOfGod says that Katara is Tenzin's mom. This has not deterred the shippers.

* SceneryPorn: The first promotional image is brimming with it. The series itself will have it too, no doubt.
** Confirmed if the trailer is anything. It has high quality animation too.
** The leaked clips and the second trailer add even more proof that Korra is going to have SceneryPorn worthy of a StudioGhibli film.
