* AndTheFandomRejoiced: ''Especially'' considering [[Film/TheLastAirbender the live-action film's]] poor reception.
** On DeviantArt, the number of images tagged "Korra" grew by 75-100 ''every day of the first week of the announcement.'' That's roughly one deviation every '''fifteen to twenty minutes'''. Just to put things in perspective, at the time, there was only one publicly-released image of the girl, and it didn't even show her face.
** DanteBasco mentioned on his blog that he would be voicing a "surprise" character in the new series somehow related to Zuko.
** We [[http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2011/03/06/the-last-airbender-legend-of-korra-exclusive-first-look/?mod=WSJBlog finally see her face]], and well, it depends on your taste on the female gender.
** JK Simmons is voicing Tenzin! Also, the movie may have been poorly received, but the actress playing Yue, Seychelle Gabriel, was something of an EnsembleDarkhorse due to delivering [[MemeticMutation a certain line about beliefs.]] Well, Mike and Bryan seem to agree, so guess who's voicing Asami?
** The opening has recently been leaked.
** [[http://caterfree10.tumblr.com/post/13744749002/marikunin-fire-lady-legend-of-korra-clip Recently leaked footage]] (presumably from the first episode) shows that [[spoiler: ''Katara is still alive'' and possibly a ''Grand Master in the Order of the White Lotus''!]]
** Pretty much any time ''any'' piece of information is released, the fans go nuts.
** The announcement of Korra Nation, a sort of points-based internet reward system and information source, which became the primary source of Korra info after the leaks stopped and gave out prizes such as music scores and a trip to SDCC 2012 to meet the creators.
** They finally took out the "The Last Airbender" part of the title! (see RuinedFOREVER below)
** Amon is Steve Blum! And a release date was ''finally'' revealed!
*** The release date was ''very'' enthusiastically celebrated, given that fans had been waiting for it for over ''two years''.
*** Even better, they will let the [[http://www.korranation.com/ first episode premiere early online]] if they get enough likes and shares.
** And then the first episode got leaked online several weeks before its scheduled release, which only left viewers '''wanting more'''.
* AscendedMeme: "''I'm'' the Avatar, you gotta ''deal'' with it!"
* AwesomenessWithdrawal: Part of the reason why fan interest is so high.
* BadassAdorable: Korra in the series' first scene. Some consider her to be bratty rather than awesome.
* BrokenBase: The fan base is already divided over the SteamPunk setting, even though the ''original series'' already [[FanDumb used it in the first place]], just not via a whole city like here.
** Confirmation that Tenzin is [[OfficialCouple Katara and Aang]]'s son has caused a resurgence in Zutara[=/=]Kataang [[ShipToShipCombat shipping wars]] (complete with DieForOurShip).
** A comment by Andrea Romano revealing that [[TearJerker the entire original cast is dead]] is not helping the situation either, with Korra and her crew ''already'' being deemed {{Replacement Scrappy}}s by some.
** With the new trailer some fans are debating whether or not the setting is ''too'' modern.
** There are also some concerns that the setting has become too Western.
** One of the biggest points of contention right now is over Korra's race and how to describe her. One side of the fandom insists that describing Korra as "tan" and drawing her with light skin, as many fans have done so, indicates that she's white and negates the rarity and importance of having a dark-skinned woman as the main character. The other side claims that race isn't any sort of issue because the characters are fictional, and it's up to individual writers and artists as to how they want to depict Korra's skin. Needless to say, the fandom is ''incredibly'' divided over this.
* ChocolateBaby: Avoiding this trope may be why none of Tenzin and Pema's children even vaguely resemble Katara or her entire wing of the family.
* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: Pretty much anything from the Track Team release, but especially "The Rally."
* DieselPunk - some are disputing whether the show is SteamPunk or this.
* EpilepticTrees: Plenty, mainly concerning how Aang ultimately bit the dust.
** Or [[BigBad Amon]]. They range from [[SamusIsAGirl is Amon female]] to [[FaceStealer is Amon Koh]], just look at the comments at the show's [[http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Amon wikia]]. Created just to let the fans imagination go [[WildMassGuess wild]].
** Now that we know [[spoiler: Katara is still alive,]] expect to see ''dozens'' of theories about [[spoiler: ways the other Gaang members could still be around, too.]]
* EvilIsCool: Amon. He's voiced by Steve Blum, makes dark threats, and [[http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h417/Powerfullest/AmonBOSS.gif doesn't even bat an eye when a bunch of flames come flying into the room where he and his mooks are located in the trailer]].
* FridgeBrilliance: One of the most prominent arguments against the original Team Avatar all being dead was that Aunt Wu had predicted Katara would live to see her great-grandchildren, and it was possible they hadn't been born yet. [[spoiler: Guess who the only member of the Gaang left alive is?]]
* FridgeHorror: Some of the Equalists probably have [[DarkAndTroubledPast very good reasons]] for hating benders. Burglars, serial killers, and even regular schoolyard bullies are bad enough. Now toss in elemental powers. Imagine how powerless non-badass normals would be against such people.
** Let's take this further, shall we? Look into our own history from an anthropological point of view. The technological advancement of the Avatar world within the span of 70 years is oft likened by many fans to be like that of our own Industrial Revolution. While we're talking about a world where people can bend the elements with their own hands, mass production may not be so difficult. But then look at the first part of the ''Promise'' comic and how, in a Fire Nation colony, the non-benders serve the benders. Now look at the historical recaps of modern day anthropology, where articles state that the Industrial Revolution was built on the backs of slave labour and colonialism. Think about that for a moment.
* HarsherInHindsight: The idea about how ingrained conflict threatened to tear cities apart became this after the Occupy Wall Street movement and other such protests.
** Considering that the whole equalist thing was inspired by the communist revolutions in Russia and China a couple tents getting knocked down in New York probably doesn't make it much harsher.
* HilariousInHindsight: The idea of anti-bending revolutionaries had been used before in a [[TheProblemWithLicensedGames much-maligned tie-in video game for the original series.]]
** When Mako and Bolin were first revealed as characters, fans thought Bolin would be a goofball clown and Mako would be a brooding lady's man. Turns out ''Bolin'' is TheCharmer, not Mako, and the responsible Mako is too busy taking care of his brother and working to keep them off the streets to really focus on anything else.
* LyingCreator: [[spoiler: They said the entire cast of ''The Legend of Aang'' was dead. According to leaked footage, this is not true.]]
* MemeticMolester: [[BigBad Amon]].
* MemeticMutation: "The Avatar" by Bolin, first line heard from the new series.
** [[Series/{{Batman}} "Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na . . . KOR-RA!"]]
** And due to the fact that her first image is her facing away from the camera, her figure and [[TheFaceless hidden face]] have also begun to approach Meme-Status.
** With the announcement of J.K. Simmons voicing Tenzin, cries of "Korra, get in my office! I need pictures! Pictures of Spider-Man/The Avatar/The Blue Spirit!" are on the rise.
** Everyone is Korrasexual. Yes, even ''you''.
** Recently new image leaks from the first few episodes have been put up online. One of the unique things about this show is that the animators heavily add a lot of extreme facial expressions. These expressions are having a small meme base with images like these: [[http://plus4chan.org/b/a/src/13283406725.gif]]
** [[http://memegenerator.net/Deal-With-It-Korra "I'm the Avatar, you gotta deal with it!"]]
** After [[http://freedomfighters-sc.deviantart.com/art/Butter-That-Bagel-Bryan-288075199?q=sort:time%20bolin&qo=32 a story about what Bryan Dante Dimartino]] was doing when the opening for the series leaked, "buttering bagels" has become a joke about getting mad in response to a leak or just ''Avatar''-related anger in general
* MemeticSexGod: Korra, to an almost unbelievable level. Straight girls and gay guys galore have proclaimed themselves willing to cross the street for her, and many fans proudly identify as "Korrasexual". In fact, it's almost impossible to find a fan that doesn't consider Korra one of these.
** And it just gets more feverish and insane with [[AndTheFandomRejoiced every new piece of info]].
* PortmanteauCoupleName: It's Avatar. There are a million and one, and that's not even counting the crackships.
** "Makorra" for Mako/Korra
** "Borra" for Bolin/Korra.
** "Makorralin" for the {{OT3}} Mako/Korra/Bolin.
** "Amorra" for [[FoeYay Amon/Korra]].

** "Masami" for Mako/Asami.
** "Korami" for [[LesYay Korra/Asami]].
** "Pemzin" for Pema/Tenzin.
* PromotedFanboy: In a way. Mike and Bryan are huge fans of ''CowboyBebop'' and have cited the influence it had on their work numerous times, in addition to including multiple references to it in ''AvatarTheLastAirbender''. Now they get to work with SteveBlum himself, playing the BigBad Amon. It's not unreasonable to guess [[https://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0upwvmdYK1qfzeb9.jpg something like this]] happened.
* RuinedFOREVER: The fact that the technology will apparently go so far as to have '''cars and motorcycles''' in the new series.
** Having cars and motorcycles [[ScienceMarchesOn 70 years or so after]] [[SteamPunk steam-powered tanks, giant drills, and flying airships]] really isn't that unexpected. Perhaps these fans forgot the Avatar world had such things?
** Something probably all fans will agree with: [[SarcasmMode THANK YOU, JAMES CAMERON, FOR STEALING THE WORD AVATAR.]]
*** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ei3GzxjgLEw The leaked intro]] seems to have told Cameron to go screw himself. Avatar: The Legend of Korra baby!
*** There probably isn't a single fan out there who doesn't want that to be true, but it has to be said that the leaked opening may possibly have been made before the legal issues and the actual title will still be "The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra."
*** It's un-ruined [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlkBZp5rleA for the international audience at least.]] In the US it will still be released under the TLA branding. But this troper suspects that most US fans will use the ''Avatar'' heading regardless.
*** And finally, as of March 13th, 2012, the title has been un-ruined even for US fans. Everyone, we present to you [[http://bryankonietzko.tumblr.com/post/19269521479/ahhh-yeah-thats-more-like-it-much-better the new official logo]] for the show known simply as ''TheLegendOfKorra''.

* {{Shipping}}: This fandom's reputation for rabid shipping has in no way been discontinued with regards to the new show.

*** That ship grew out of speculation over Korra's animal guide. As the three other bending forms were all created by animals and the original waterbender was the moon, several people joked that Korra would be riding the moon. You can see how it evolved from there.

* SceneryPorn: The first promotional image is brimming with it. The series itself will have it too, no doubt.
** Confirmed if the trailer is anything. It has high quality animation too.
** The leaked clips and the second trailer add even more proof that Korra is going to have SceneryPorn worthy of a StudioGhibli film.

Combined with the apparent death of the entire cast of the original series [[spoiler: except for Katara]], some fans feel that it will never match up to the original and the characters will lack the chemistry of the original cast...
