  • Harsher in Hindsight: The play makes fun on medicine and focusses on a hypochondriac man. There's Self-Deprecation lines when characters mock Molière's work (because he already made fun of medicine in earlier plays) and lines state he would deserve to die without receiving medical assistance. Molière was ill (historians speculate it was tuberculosis) and died literally a few hours after a representation of the play, before a doctor could visit him. Not to mention Molière played the role of the hypochondriac himself during the play's initial run.
