YMMV / The Haunting of Braidwood Manor

Go To

  • Broken Base: Readers who didn't ship Hannah and Eleanor are very vocal about the ending, questioning why Eleanor deserves to live again in modern times with Hannah and her siblings have to pass on to the Afterlife. From that group, some think having the option to revive Eleanor doesn't go with the dark and serious tone of the story, others think that Eleanor living as a college student implies a lot of legal paperwork for her, while others think that if they got to keep the ending, the kids should have been revived as well.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Not a particular characters, but a majority of fans agree that the character selection for this game is one of the best Choices ever had, despite the apps never used any of them in other games again.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: As stated in Broken Base above, many of the readers agree that the story is good, but gets completely ruined by having the premium option for Eleanor, choosing to either ignore it as part of the story, or regret buying it.
  • Fridge Logic: If you pay diamonds to unlock the premium option for Eleanor at the end of the game, several questions end up going unanswered. Now that she's human and living in the modern world, what will she do in case anyone tries to do a background check on her? Yes, she responds to Hannah's friends with the basic cover story of having moved from England and lived in the US for a while, but it'll be more than a little awkward if anyone should try digging further than that.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Rose Waverley ensembles all of this by slitting Eleanor's throat, poisoning her other three children and then locking herself inside the furnace, just because she thought her husband wouldn't return home.
