* CondemnedByHistory: The story was originally praised for its deeper look into the machinations of the Solar Empire, the effects the conversion/xenocide campaign would have on the Empire, and for the addition of a third faction that is not the HLF or the PER. Over time, fans and even the [[CreatorBacklash authors]] turned against the story for the DesignatedHero nature of the protagonist, Marcus Renee and the poor characterization of Princess Celestia and Discord.

The story still has its good moments and there are fans of it, but even they acknowledge that the story's ''very'' flawed.

* SalvagedStory: [[spoiler:Prime Discord's chewing out of the Princesses for sealing him away and preventing him from using his chaos to make ponies stronger rang hollow, considering his liberal use of MindRape and warping reality around him ForTheEvulz in his first prime appearance. * CrossesTheLineTwice: Evidently, [=DoctorFluffy=]'s mention of Stalwart Heart (the ponified form of Marcus' little brother) giving TCB Twilight [[WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers a Rusty Venture]].

** Marcus and Celestia give [[RoyalBrat Blue]blood]] a ''very'' brutal and well-deserved [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech verbal beatdown]] in Chapter 11 before Discord turns him to stone temporarily, which serves as [[BreakTheHaughty a wake-up call for him to improve his ways]] after he's freed. Also, TCB Blueblood is revealed to have been [[TakenForGranite turned to stone]] and [[LiterallyShatteredLives smashed to pieces]] by Queen Celestia because even ''she'' couldn't stand him.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: As of the "Sons of Legacies" arc, the writers are clearly trying to fix some of the controversial depictions of canon characters.
