YMMV / The Brady Bunch S 3 E 16 Dough Re Mi

Go To

  • The Cast Showoff: The kids with their singing act. Although Barry Williams sang in an earlier episode, and three of the four younger kids were part of a glee club in another Season 2 episode, this is the first time they sing as a group.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: During the barbecue scene, Carol makes a quip about having to worry about Greg until he was 60. As Greg was around 16 at the time of this episode (which aired in January 1972); that would mean Carol could finally stop worrying about Greg in 2016...which was the year Florence Henderson died.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Pointed out by Sherwood Schwartz' son Lloyd in "Brady, Brady, Brady" book - Barry Williams, Maureen McCormick and Mike Lookinland (and as Barry said, especially the latter one) were excellent vocalists, then Susan Olsen and Eve Plumb had somewhat decent voices and passable talent, but Christopher Knight was just the worst at singing.
    • On the show, during the recording session scene, Peter's voice cracks and is unable to stay on key during the refrain ("When it's time to change ...") and a vocal bridge near the end of the song. The commercially available single and album track, released shortly after "Dough Re Mi" was broadcast, does not include the off-key gag.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Christopher Knight admitted that his pipes were a bit on the rusty side.
