• Alternative Character Interpretation: In the scene where Soldier Boy sees a gay couple, while it's clear he's not outright disgusted like someone from his time might be, there's some debate over how accepting he is of homosexuality. In Nicaragua, he used a homophobic slur towards Mallory, though it's unclear if he actually meant it or if he was just trying to snap back at Mallory with an easy comeback at the time. If the latter, it's likely that his comment simply meant that any woman who wasn't attracted to him must be gay. It could also be that he was reflecting the attitudes of society, and now that he sees that homosexuality is accepted in public, he doesn't see an issue with it anymore.
