• Inferred Holocaust: The aliens will apparently render the human race extinct, save for those chosen to be "saved", who are in the meantime used as slaves... unless our "altruism coefficient" is high enough. And guess what? It goes down every time the button gets pushed.
• Memetic Mutation: Many, many, many spoofs have been done on the concept of the box. Usually involving someone who either doesn't care if someone they know dies or sees it as a plus. Almost always said person will hit the button before the presenter has even finished speaking.
• Retroactive Recognition: A pre-Community Gillian Jacobs is the Lewis' babysitter.
