• Hilarious in Hindsight: Considering that the fic was last updated in 2006 (and much of it was written before Order of the Phoenix came out):
  • The old family relics Harry is entitled to include a ring and a powerful wand. Also, it turns out Dumbledore's defeat of Grindelwald was largely, if not due to the wand, due to reverse-engineering what made said wand unique.
  • Dumbledore has a younger sister in this fic, although she is named Amalthea.
  • Apparition is described as a pleasant experience in this story, while in canon it is revealed to cause discomfort at best and horrific splinching at worst. (It does, however, feel unpleasant for others when Harry brings them in through the Hogwarts wards, which is closer to canon side-along apparitions.)
  • Harry notes at one point that the wolves in the Forbidden Forest seem to be highly intelligent, possibly due to the ambient magic. Rowling stated years later that there is, in fact, a pack of highly intelligent wolves in the forest, though these are descendants of two werewolves.
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • When Percy is revealed to have mental scarring due to the early death of his twin brother, Fred and George are horrified, unable to imagine being separated from each other in such a way. Cut to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows...
  • Pettigrew revealing that the main reason for his Face–Heel Turn was being in love with Lily and hating James for having her. Then the books revealed Snape's motivation for his betrayal...
