YMMV / The Amazing Story of Superman Red and Superman Blue

Go To

  • Esoteric Happy Ending: Quite a few commentators have ended up raising eyebrows at the "anti-evil ray"—the Superman twins' utopia hinges on machines that hypnotize people into doing good. This is an idea that the book doesn't confront at all, and probably with good reason, as if you take it remotely seriously, it suggests that the utopia the book presents is built on an ending of free will. It's not for nothing that people have compared it to the ending of Alan Moore's Miracleman (to the point of arguing it to be an inspiration), with the key difference being that Miracleman's dystopian creepiness was entirely the point.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: After Krypton has been rebuilt, all Kandorians agree that staying close to Earth is a bad idea. Forty-three years later, the New Krypton debacle would prove them right.
