YMMV / The Adventures of Captain Starshield

Go To

  • Awesome Art: The art in the comic is gorgeous, having a heavily stylized look and dynamic posing. This is to be expected seeing as it was created by the men that would found the longtime Insomniac collaborator and awesome art workshop, CreatureBox.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: The comic is only 6 pages long meaning very little time given to any of the events depicted.
  • It Was His Sled: What happened to Captain Starshield when he arrived in the Shadow Sector? He was captured, made to participate in Dreadzone, and was killed by Ace Hardlight.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: While the comic's short length wouldn't have allowed for an in-depth story no matter what direction the creators went, a prequel starring a bit character from Deadlocked could've expanded on the role of other intergalactic superheroes beyond Captain Qwark (especially considering how the characters react to his death at the start of the game) or how Gleeman Vox "recruited" Dreadzone's contestants. Instead we begin at the very end of Starshield's last adventure and then spend the rest of the run on a new planet in a new galaxy with no one the lead character knows, with Starshield's eventual fate on Dreadzone only being touched on briefly in the last few panels.
