YMMV / The Adventures of Batman & Robin E16 "Harley's Holiday"

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Did Harley really fail to recognize Batman or did she decide to pretend? If the latter, was she afraid of how far Batman would go to protect his Secret Identity or unwilling to cause him trouble since she was trying to go straight?
  • Fanfic Fuel: What if Poison Ivy had been more than a wordless cameo in this episode? Perhaps Batman and Robin go to her for information on where Harley might be headed.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • The ending of the episode where Batman and Harley share a tender moment, becomes this when you realize that, despite his faith in her, she still goes on to help the Joker kidnap and torture Tim Drake, resulting in his greatest failure and the dissolution of the Bat-family. And, even worse, Harley after that managed to obtain a normal life, only to have to hide for the rest of her life from Batman and finding her granddaughters going down the same path.
    • Harley's speech to Veronica seems to be foreshadowing for Return of the Joker. She rants about how she's going to skip town and lay low because even she can't believe this was a big misunderstanding and that Batman surely won't give her the benefit of the doubt. This is probably why Barbara as Commissioner believes that Harley wouldn't cause trouble because Harley knows the Bat-family would tear her apart for what she did to Tim if she dared show up on their radar again. Torturing a teenager is definitely not a misunderstanding.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Veronica Vreeland tells Bruce he needs a woman in his life to keep him up on fashion trends. About ten years later, it would become more common than not for young, wealthy men like Bruce to do that for themselves.
    • Harley declaring Society Is to Blame for her state is utterly hysterical when you consider her pudding has been asscociated with the "Society" meme.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: At the end of the episode, Harley's psychiatrist claims she's making real progress and is on the path to recovery. This is never followed up in any future plot. Unless one film is taken as canon with TAS, and the other film taken as a separate, alternate timeline. While she recovers in the latter, it comes at a high price.
