YMMV / Teen Titans S 3 E 5 Haunted

Go To

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: How many of Hallucination Slade's taunts were a reflection of the real Slade, and how many of them were Robin's insecurities manifesting in the form of his greatest enemy?
    • During Robin's "fight" with the Slade hallucination in Slade's old lair, while trying to climb up on the broken catwalk, the hallucination taunts him. On some level, was this Robin's subconscious trying to spell it out for him that he's hallucinating?
"Slade": Your friends won't find the generators, and they can't see me. They can't see the truth, Robin, even when it's right in front of them.
  • Fridge Horror: The Slade hallucination claims that he freed Cinderblock just to get Robin's attention. While Cinderblock could've plausibly escaped prison on his own, who's to say the newly resurrected Slade (assuming he'd been revived by Trigon at this point) didn't use his newfound dark powers to free the monstrosity in order to drive Robin away to face the hallucination?
    • Moreover, who's to say Slade wasn't using his dark powers to puppeteer the hallucination in order to make it more realistic?
      • Though it's somewhat unlikely considering how Raven likely would've sensed Trigon's power if that were the case.
    • Alternatively, it's possible that Slade had a mundane contingency plan in place the moment that the mask was activated. Wintergreen could have been given orders to trigger the mask and free Cinderblock after a certain length of time.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Cyborg assures Robin that if Slade really somehow does ever return, the Titans will be ready. Come next season, however, when Slade did indeed return for real, the Titans were not ready, especially Raven.
