• Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The film is incredibly dour, without being a proper horror to at least justify how nihilistic the setting and story are. The main character is living on borrowed time, so it's hard to get attached, but there isn't exactly a clock ticking over his head to add tension. The story never, ever uses its premise for anything pleasant or simply non-hostile to happen and only adds to how bleak everything is with endless stream of dangers emerging from the past. And then there is the nature of the ending, where no matter what, Steve is dead one way or another, leaving on an incredibly bitter-sweet note.
