YMMV / Sydney to the Max

• Growing the Beard: Season 2 is showing signs of this by rounding out everyone's characterizations. Sydney's flaws such as her occasionally self-centered attitude or Soapbox Sadie tendencies were toned downed and acknowledged by the other characters. Max occasionally got the last laugh and is much less a Bumbling Dad. Judy has stopped telling Max how to raise Sydney and she was shown to make her own mistakes when raising Max. Olive went from a Satellite Character to being overly safety conscious. In general the quality of writing was much better as well.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Max & Leo's fight in "As Bad As She Gets" becomes this after The Reveal the two are cousins-in-law.
• Special Effects Failure: Max and Gemma's pictures in "A Crush of Their Own" were clearly taken in front of a green screen.
• Squick: Max and Leo seem to ship Sydney and Leo’s son, L.J., when adult Leo appears for the first time in Season 1, but the Season 2 finale reveals that Sydney and L.J. are actually second cousins.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: In "The Hair Switch Project" Max offered to stand up for Alisha so she didn't have to go to a hair appointment she didn't want. It could've been a huge step in their relationship and offered much needed Character Development to young Max. Instead, he backs out and Alisha is the one who stands up to her mom which was the third tangent about natural hair of the episode.
