• Base-Breaking Character: Jack is a very odd case. Most of the fanbase likes him, but a number of Kara/Lena shippers don’t like him simply for being Lena’s ex.
  • However, this was eventually subverted as a lot of Kara/Lena fanfiction featured Jack as a sympathetic character. When he briefly returned for a flashback episode in Season 5, even diehard Kara/Lena shippers were happy to see him again.
• Fridge Logic: Apparently, being a Luthor somehow makes martial arts ineffective. Justified as there's a huge difference between sparring on the mat and actually getting into real-life, no-holds-barred life or death fights. Also, it's entirely possible that Beth learned martial arts as a kid/teenager, but didn't keep up her practice. Also, Lena clearly caught her off-guard.
