YMMV / Sumire 16-sai!!

Go To

  • Hollywood Pudgy: Renge worries about being too fat sometimes. Nothing the readers will notice.
  • Les Yay:
    • Ageha's adoration of the woman controlling Sakura. After her rescue from those punks in the van, she's been almost smitten since.
    • Sakura (controlled by the Misterious Woman) declaring his love for the math teacher also falls under this by implication.
  • Moe: In universe example. The Otakus mistake Renge's and Mizuki's behavior at the Maid Cafe for some advanced knowledge about moe types.
    • Renge, with her clumsy habits, her soft-spoken personality, and her two greatest "talents". Exploited at the end of Chapter 44, when she becomes a waitress and doesn't realize that the only reason why she's doing a good job is that literally every boy is staring at her chest.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • The pre-graduation party, topped off with Renge, Akebi, Mizuki, Yamabuki and Lex making a giant "Thank You" display to Sumire. It's so beautiful that it moves both the Old Man and Sumire to tears.
    • The Distant Finale where Renge, Akebi and Mizuki reunite with Sumire...only for her to pretend not to know them. They're deeply hurt until they look at the old man and we see his reaction here.backup description
      • Even more of one when you look at it this way: the trio using the "dead eyes" imitation to (poorly) fool the new trio introduced in 17- sai means that just like the teachers and the principal, there are probably numerous trios of girls like Renge, Akebi and Mizuki that have befriended and made tons of memories with Sumire...and none of them can acknowledge him because that'd pretty much break the masquerade. Damn.
      • The joyful reaction of the 16-sai trio to the above, and the actions of people like the police superintendent, indicate that the Tear Jerking for this is likely to be actually Tears of Joy as they get to pay good into good by making the masquerade their own.
  • The Woobie: Renge. She has always been alone, was bullied throughout middle school and probably would have been through high school too if not for Sumire. She has serious self-confidence problems and used to play board games by herself. Don't you just want to hug her?
  • Wild Mass Guessing: Sumire and Sakura get subjected to a truckload of this. Doesn't help that in the end, we still don't know what's the Old Man and the Mysterious Woman's deal.
