* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Yes the Crystal Gems have every right to be furious at Peridot for the things she says - but they don't bother to explain ''why'' her beliefs her wrong or even try to convince her she doesn't have to be a slave to the Diamonds. Especially since "The Answer" shows Sapphire used to be as devoted to Blue Diamond as Peridot is to Yellow Diamond and that Ruby had the same cultish fanaticism in the Gem Homeworld's beliefs, considering that she was willing to go back and get crushed because Sapphire was a rare high-class Gem while Ruby was one of many [[ExpendableClone low-class soldier Rubies]], and as such her life was meaningless compared to Sapphire's in Homeworld's FantasticCasteSystem.
* WhatAnIdiot: Peridot saying Rose's rebellion was pointless and was for nothing.. in front of her loyal followers who, due to the drill being complete and having the coordinates for where to find the cluster, now have no reason to keep her un-bubbled other than friendship. This nearly gets her bubbled, or worse, for her troubles by an angry Garnet.

Not YMMV

Counterpart Comparison is for characters, not works

* CounterpartComparison: The episode follows a lot of the same beats as the ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'' episode "F.U.N.". In both, our ever-idealistic protagonist sings a song about doing something just for the fun of it to his green antagonist in an effort to help them turn to the good side, and it almost works until said antagonist remembers how much they enjoy being evil (although in Peridot's case, she doesn't consider what she does evil). The similarities [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoPj094gLDI have been noted]] by fans.

* JerkassWoobie: Peridot says a lot of horrible things in this episode. But at the same time it's a revealed that her thoughts and beliefs are due to to the environment she's grown up in. Her devotion to the Diamonds is especially pitiful, given that we know that the Diamonds think nothing of crushing lesser gems for the smallest offense.

Not a YMMV trope.
