YMMV / Steven Seagal

Go To

  • Fight Scene Failure: The later direct-to-video films of Steven Seagal (especially by the "Fat Seagal" period such as Code Of Honor, The Asian Connection, or General Commander) are infamous for this, being designed to conceal as best as possible the degree to which Seagal has fallen since his action-star prime. Not only do they make use of extremely rapid Shaky Cam editing and regular showings by the obvious Stunt Double, but the fights themselves are so lethargic that Seagal never comes across as the One-Man Army he was once famous for, with his opponents rarely fighting back and Seagal frequently being visibly exhausted despite barely moving. Particularly notable are the no less than three fights spent with Seagal sitting down and slapping his opponent(s) as they slowly move towards him.
  • So Bad, It's Good: "Strut" from Songs from the Crystal Cave is Seagal's attempt at dancehall reggae. It's as ridiculous as it sounds.
