YMMV / Star Wars: The Princess and the Scoundrel

Go To

  • Fandom Rivalry: Regardless of whether fans prefer Legends or the Disney canon as a whole, there are some passionate arguments about whether this book or The Courtship of Princess Leia, the previous Han-Leia wedding story, is better in terms of plot, characters, and romance.
  • Tainted by the Preview:
    • Many readers were preemptively soured toward the book after the back cover made it clear that it would take place on the Halycon from Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, viewing the book as an unsubtle (and expensive to buy) shilling for the Disney ride, with this sentiment increasing after the book came out and more people read it and confirmed that, whatever its positive traits are, the book does pay a lot of attention to the luxuriousness of the Halycon.
    • The above problem wasn't helped at all by the sheer bad luck of the novel coming out the same year that the writer of The Courtship of Princess Leia (the Legends version of the marriage of Han and Leia) Dave Wolverton passed away.
