YMMV / Star Wars: Shattered Empire

Go To

  • Broken Base: Operation Cinder itself is either praised as being in-character for Palpatine and a good plot device, or vilified for its sheer over-the-top nature and how it evokes heavy apathy towards any attempts to make characters who stay loyal to the Empire afterwards seem sympathetic (something which most EU authors try to do), especially ones who never even address Operation Cinder at all.
    • Shara trying to shoot down an Imperial shuttle fleeing the Death Star is treated as a light humorous moment in the comic given Luke Skywalker is at the the controls. Fan seem to fall into three groups - those who see it as light but inconsequential in the spirit it seems to have been intended, those that see it as an outright war crime on Shara's part, akin to shooting at a lifeboat leaving a sinking ship and those in between who treat it as a somewhat serious and gray action but ultimately justifiable given the shuttle was technically armed (albeit no match for a starfighter) and from Shara's point of view could have contained anyone up to and including Palpatine himself.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The panel that provides our image in He's Just Hiding seems prescient of The Rise of Skywalker, specially as Palpatine resurrecting in that movie was never planned until it came time to do that movie.
