- That a pilot from a previous entry will return as a member of Alphabet Squadron, mainly Hera, Yeager, Mrs. Doza, and/or Ciena. Especially the former two, due to Resistance lacking any release tie-ins and guesses that Alphabet Squadron could be the what A New Dawn was to Rebels. In the latter's case, it's hope that Ciena will finally get a happy ending after what happened in Lost Stars. Hera would be confirmed in a synopsis, leading to hope that we may also learn more about Jacen during this time. Ultimately jossed, as all of the members of Alphabet Squadron are new characters.
- That because of the focus on the different rebel starfighters, we will see the return of the K-Wing.
- It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: It is yet again another story about a cool Imperial soldier defecting to the Rebellion/New Republic, which many feel has been done and wasted often as of recent.
- Just Here for Godzilla: Interest in the book was piqued for Rebels fans when it was announced that Hera Syndulla would be in the story.
- Older Than They Think: High Galactic alphabet actually first appeared in a legend before becoming a canon immigrant in 'The Clone Wars'.
- Tear Jerker: Hera briefly reminisces about her family — the Ghost crew and how she wishes they could all be with her aboard the Lodestar, implying that everyone that was still around by the end of Rebels has gone their separate ways due to their duty in the war.
