• Esoteric Happy Ending: While Janeway manages to prevent the planetary apocalypse from taking place, there's no guarantee that the natives won't end up blowing themselves to kingdom come in the longer run. And thanks to a combination of the Reset Button and Prime Directive, the Voyager crew don't remember any of the episode's events, and won't beam down to the planet and discover the polaric power system. Downplayed in that the planet still has a growing movement against the system, but if Real Life is anything to go by, such movements generally struggle to achieve much unless some catastrophic event demonstrates their point — and in this case, there may not be anyone left to learn the lesson from any disaster.
• Tear Jerker: Kes's reaction to having telepathically sensed/witnessed the disaster, thanks to Jennifer Lien's great acting chops.
