YMMV / Star Trek: The Next Generation S3E18 "Allegiance"

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Riker gets accused of plotting a mutiny by both Worf and the Picard imposter. In "The Pegasus", we learn that Riker was involved in a mutiny during his first Starfleet assignment aboard the titular ship.
    • The real-life shanty that Impostor!Picard sings in Ten Forward, Heart Of Oak, was later discovered to contain several racist overtones, given the time period it was written in. Even worse is that he comes up to Worf and Geordi (who are played by Black actors) when he sings the following verse in bold (It's muddled when Geordi tries to sing along, but can't find the proper words):
      Come, cheer, up, my lads, 'tis to glory we steer,
      To add something new to this wonderful year;
      To honour we call you, as freemen, not slaves
      For who are so free as the sons of the waves?
  • Retroactive Recognition: Esoqq is played by German actor Reiner Schöne, who later became familiar in sci-fi circles for his role as Minbari Grey Council leader Dukhat (not to be confused with Gul Dukat) on Babylon 5.
