• Nightmare Fuel:
  • The flashbacks to Klingon rape make for some of the most disturbing visuals in all of Trek.
  • Not to mention how one of the most fearless and capable officers of Discovery's crew is reduced to a helpless mess by unexpectedly finding himself face to face with his abuser. Things are bad enough that only the presence of Admiral Cornwell, herself crippled and barely alive, keeps the entire mission from failing as a result.
  • Doctor Culber, having recently discovered just how bad operating the Spore Drive is for Stamets, has to watch as Stamets endures 133 back-to-back jumps. All he can do is remotely administer medication to keep Stamets alive through the process, which he is powerless to stop. And then there is watching whatever happened to Stamets after the final jump.
• Tearjerker: Tyler suffering from PTSD and later explaining to Burnham about the sexual abuse he endured in order to survive in the Klingon prison.
