• Harsher in Hindsight: News at Benn includes a list of wild election promises from Labour including "full employment" and "a decent England football team", but one of the others is "Rape to be illegal". The joke is presumably meant to be that Labour want to credit for stuff that's already in place. But the Marital Rape License was not successfully challenged in an English court until 1991 and the illegality of marital rape was not fully laid down in statute until 2003. In spite of what this sketch was going for, there was in fact still work to be done.
